Welcome to IITx. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our mentorship platform and services. By accessing or using IITx, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these terms, then you may not access the service.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all users of the service, including mentors, mentees, and visitors.

If you are using IITx on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Description of Service

IITx is a mentorship platform that connects verified IIT alumni with students and professionals seeking guidance. Our services include:

  • Mentor-mentee matching and discovery
  • Session booking and scheduling
  • Secure communication tools
  • Payment processing for mentorship sessions
  • Community features including Q&A forums
  • Profile management and verification services
User Accounts and Registration

Account Creation

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You must be at least 18 years old to use our services
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts

Mentor Verification

  • Mentors must be verified IIT alumni
  • Verification requires valid IIT email, LinkedIn profile, or official documentation
  • False verification information may result in immediate account termination
  • We reserve the right to re-verify accounts at any time
User Conduct and Responsibilities

Acceptable Use

You agree to use IITx only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the rights of others
  • Transmit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use the platform for commercial purposes outside of mentorship
  • Spam, harass, or abuse other users

Mentorship Standards

  • Maintain professional conduct in all interactions
  • Provide honest and constructive guidance
  • Respect confidentiality and privacy
  • Honor scheduled commitments and appointments
  • Report any inappropriate behavior or violations
Payment Terms

Session Fees

  • Mentors set their own session rates
  • Payment is required at the time of booking
  • IITx charges a platform fee on each transaction
  • All fees are clearly displayed before booking

Refunds and Cancellations

  • Cancellations more than 24 hours in advance receive full refunds
  • Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a cancellation fee
  • No-shows are not eligible for refunds
  • Refunds for quality issues are handled case-by-case

Mentor Payments

  • Mentors receive payment after session completion
  • Platform fees are deducted from mentor earnings
  • Payments are processed within 3-5 business days
  • Tax reporting is the responsibility of individual mentors
Intellectual Property Rights

Platform Content

IITx and its licensors own all rights to the platform, including software, design, text, graphics, and other materials. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

User Content

You retain ownership of content you create, but grant IITx a license to use, display, and distribute your content on the platform. You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to any content you share.

Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using IITx, you consent to our data practices as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information shared during mentorship sessions and must not disclose confidential information without permission.

Disclaimers and Limitations

Service Availability

IITx is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to our services and may modify or discontinue features at any time.

Mentorship Outcomes

We do not guarantee specific outcomes from mentorship sessions. The value and effectiveness of mentorship depend on various factors beyond our control.

Third-Party Content

We are not responsible for content, advice, or actions of mentors or other users. Users interact at their own risk and should exercise judgment in following advice.

Account Termination

Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting our support team. Upon termination, your access to the platform will be revoked, but these Terms will continue to apply to past use.

Termination by IITx

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, illegal activity, or other reasons at our discretion. We will provide notice when possible, but immediate termination may occur for serious violations.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of IITx will be resolved through binding arbitration in Bangalore, India.

Before initiating formal proceedings, we encourage users to contact our support team to resolve disputes amicably.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or platform notifications. Continued use of IITx after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
